About the Unit Price Calculator
This unit price calculator helps you compare the real cost of products sold in different package sizes or units. Type a name, price, unit, and quantity for each product, and the tool works out the price per standardized base unit — per kilogram for weight, per liter for volume, and per item for count — then highlights the cheapest option in each category. Everything runs locally in your browser.
How the calculation works
- Weight units (kg, g, lb, oz) are normalized to a price per kilogram.
- Volume units (L, mL) are normalized to a price per liter.
- Count units (each) show the price per item.
- Unit price —
price / quantity, converted to the base unit for the chosen dimension. - Products are grouped by dimension (weight, volume, count). The cheapest within each group is highlighted in blue.
How to use
- For each product row, enter a name, the price you pay, pick the unit (kg, g, lb, oz, L, mL, or each), and the quantity.
- Click + Add product to add more rows, or remove a row with its ✕ button.
- Press Compare to see the unit price of each product and the best deal per category.
Frequently asked questions
Why are products grouped into weight, volume, and count? You can only meaningfully compare unit prices within the same dimension — a price per kilogram cannot be compared against a price per liter. The tool therefore finds the cheapest in each category.
What are the conversion factors? 1 kg = 1000 g, 1 kg ≈ 2.20462 lb, 1 kg ≈ 35.274 oz, and 1 L = 1000 mL. The calculator applies these before computing the unit price.
Does it round results? Unit prices show up to four decimal places, with a currency-style format for readability.
Is my data stored? No. All calculation happens locally in your browser.
